Church In Session XVII: Gelatines & Seamus Cater & Sten Rudstrom & Sabine VD Tann

Another concert in the “Church in Session” series at Startbahn, in Neukölln.

Doors at 7, music by 8.  Entry is by donation, and like all of these shows, it’s all-ages, smoke-free, and handicap accessible.

Gelatines

Comprised of two former members and refugees of the beloved Krautrock band Camera, Steffen Kahles (keys) and Tim Schroeder (keys and vocals), as well as one current member of Camera, Alex Kozmidi (guitar) and another refugee Evgeni Kostyts (drums), drummer for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest winner representing Ukraine; and Marcus Jaeger, a professional vinyl scratcher and former schoolmate of the aforementioned Kahles, the band Gelatines have a smorgasbord of talent, not to mention years of experience to bring to the table.

Seamus Cater

English-born, Amsterdam-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Seamus Cater makes work that both straddles and transcends genres from early English folk music to contemporary avant-garde and experimental composition.  His work is often stark, focusing on the minutiae of these commonalities, rather than their differences

Sten Rudstrom & Sabine Von der Tann

Sten Rudstrom and Sabine von der Tann meet while studying Action Theater™ under the guidance of Ruth Zaporah in Berkeley, California, in 1990. Since that time, they have collaborated on a series of improvisational duets on park benches, city streets, in forests, on rocks high above human dwellings, beaches, on wine bar couches, in churches, under the verandas of museums, as well as in numerous conventional theaters in the USA and Europe. Their extensive history of performing duets together creates a unique and idiosyncratic vocabulary of haunting, harmonic and stunning vocal and linguistic textures.
